Study Circle
A study circle addresses the human need for self inquiry, curiosity, absorbing knowledge and making sense of our own existence in society and the world at large. It is a group discussion amongst spiritual seekers reflecting on spiritual and faith based material. This can be a key text, quote, talk or message from Sri Sathya Sai Baba, the Old and New Testament, the Quran, the Bhagavad Gita, the Guru Granth Sahib to name but a few.
Those who attend unpick and discuss the core, underlying meanings of the material. Everyone is encouraged to speak and share their thoughts and feelings. They clarify points for each other, removing any misconceptions and arriving at a clear understanding.
Study circles should not be used for expressions of rhetoric and intellectual knowledge, platforms for ego and venting of superiority.
Sri Sathya Sai Baba has said:
“The Vedas have emphasised that man will be truly human only when he lives up to human values and practises the good life. Many who chant the Vedas these days have difficulty in understanding their purport. When they fully understand the meaning and chant the mantras, they will derive greater joy. Only then they will experience the full sacredness and potency of the Vedas.”
Sri Sathya Sai Baba emphasised that all human beings are divine and that the goal and purpose of this life is to realise this. He said by practising spirituality and leading a love-filled and selfless life filled with good values, man can reach the pinnacle of His own divinity and come to the realisation that all are divine and united. He declared This formula for humans to lead a meaningful life is summarised in following the universal human values of: truth (sathya), right conduct (dharma), peace (shanthi), love (prema) and non-violence (ahimsa).
He has inspired millions through humanitarian work, leading by example and His motto of ‘Love All, Serve All’. His timeless and universal teachings have attracted seekers from all walks of life, faiths, cultures and nationalities, inspiring them to lead constructive, value-driven and fulfilling lives.
